South Beach’s once dilapidated waterfront warehouses have been transformed into shining towers packed with modern apartments and luxury suites. As San Francisco revamped this conveniently located industrial no-man’s land, trendy clubs and chic cafes quickly set up shop. Respected for its salty sea breeze and picturesque views of the bay, South Beach’s stark cleanliness presents a distinctly different side of San Francisco.
Mission Bay may not conjure visions of classic San Francisco, but this contemporary neighborhood is commonly deemed up-and-coming. Just across Mission Creek from AT&T Park (Go Giants!),Mission Bay’s wide boulevards and vacant lots are steadily filling in with luxury apartment complexes and university campus buildings boasting bayside views. Although the neighborhood has yet to gain a steady nightlife scene, its light rail stops and bus lines will take you anywhere in the city.
